Origins
Capital Shield was born from the remarkable success of the Australian Crisis Simulation Summit (ACSS), a groundbreaking national security initiative founded by a dedicated group of 30 students at the Australian National University. Held in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ACSS was Australia’s first fully virtual crisis simulation, bringing together 70 emerging national security leaders and some of the country’s top experts.
Recognised for its sophistication, the ACSS received high praise from figures such as Admiral Chris Barrie, Former Chief of the Australian Defence Force, and the Hon Julie Bishop, Former Foreign Minister of Australia. Its simulations, described as “on par with” or even surpassing those used in international government and private sector contexts, have set a new benchmark for crisis preparedness in Australia.
Leveraging the innovative methodologies honed at ACSS over the past 5 years, Capital Shield was established to take this vision further. Our evolution reflects our commitment to securing Australia’s future by preparing leaders to face the crises of tomorrow with resilience and confidence.
